ModSpace seeks a qualified, experienced Accounting Manager for our finance and accounting team supporting North American operations from our Berwyn, PA headquarters (suburban Philadelphia). ModSpace has 80+ locations across the US and Canada. The Accounting Manager directs accounting staff and manages all accounting activities for the organization, including internal and external financial reporting. 

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Accounting Director and will lead a team of individuals with specific focus on:

  • Execution and operation of accounting policies including month-end close;
  • Quarterly and annual financial statement preparation for external reporting in accordance with GAAP;
  • Consistent application of the Company’s accounting policies;

 

Successful performance of this role will be based upon efficient and timely close execution and optimization inclusive of U.S. and Canadian Operations; management and mentorship of a team of accountants; and coordination with the Company’s FP&A team and regional finance managers. The accounting manager is required to execute with a hands on approach.

 

Position Responsibilities include: 

    • Manages and directs closing of monthly financials, including monthly accounting close activities such as review of journal entries; general ledger; account reconciliation & analysis; and analytical reviews for the Company and subsidiaries.
    • Develops a thorough, hands-on understanding of business processes and opportunities for improvement using observation, process mapping and structured analysis.
    • Preparation of monthly internal financial statements as well as quarterly external financial statements in connection with the Company’s financial reporting requirements.
    • Prepare annual financial statements including disclosures inclusive of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the Company.      
    • Primary liaison with external auditors and responsible for facilitating completion of the audit in connection with the Company’s financial reporting requirements.
    • Manages and directs foreign currency translation and reporting.
    • Areas of accounting include: Lease accounting (operating and finance leases); revenue recognition inclusive of Revenue Arrangements with Multiple Deliverables & Long-Term Construction-Type sales contracts; purchase and fair value accounting; stock based compensation; goodwill and intangibles; income taxes pursuant to ASC 740 and FIN 48; and consolidation accounting including intercompany activity and transfer pricing.
    • Financial Reporting development with the assistance of IT department from time-to-time.
    • Interfaces with the technology group to reduce/eliminate system disconnects and improve processes.
    • Assists and collaborate with Accounting Director and Controller on projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting
  • 3-4 years of Public accounting experience required (“Big 4” preferred), inclusive of public company experience
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP, SEC filings and ability to research given topics
  • Knowledge of corporate income tax
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Forward-thinking, results-oriented approach
  • Ability to assume a high degree of responsibility with limited supervision
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and management, training, mentoring and other interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills including the ability to translate financial information to business consequences and solutions
  • Extensive Microsoft excel skills and ability to work with large data-sets of financial information
  • Strong systems background - Oracle experience - preferred
  • Familiarity with a multi-location working environment - preferred
